The concept of 3D Weaving led to thoughts about new forms of production and different views on future labour and consumption. As there is a strong tendency in the industry to enable personalized massproduced products in the near future, I experimented with 3D scanning to get an exact digital model of the body which created the basis for custom fitted shoes. To interpret the 3D model I built a program that calculates the toolpath for the weaving machine. In this case it generates the data for the upper of the shoe, which is then sent to the machine.

Smaller businesses or shops also could get the chance to produce and sell individualized products

Customers could choose and configure their own material and its colours, instead of deciding for an allready existing product.
